Advisor Narula for timely completion of developmental schemes

KARGIL, July 20: Advisor Ladakh Umang Narula during his 3 days visit to Kargil took stock of the pace of progress on the implementation of developmental activities and schemes under the State Budget and Special Development Package (SDP) during a meeting with the sectoral officers here today.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary, SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Chief Engineer R&B Ladakh Tarseem Kumar, Chief Wildlife Warden Ladakh Sajid Sultan, SE PWD Kargil Ved Prakash, ASP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, ACD Kargil Ghulam Muhammad besides all sectoral officers were present in the meeting.
DC apprised the Advisor about the progress achieved on various ongoing as well new works viz progress achieved on the implementation of different Central sponsored schemes
While reviewing the pace of progress on the implementation of different approved works under the Rural Developmental sector, the Advisor instructed the officers concerned to devise ways and means to extend the capability of the department to carry out the tendering of works at the block level.
He also inquired from the DC Kargil and the CMO Kargil about the status of COVID-19 mitigation measures and instructed the concerned to ensure thorough screening of all laborers and other inbound passengers visiting the district. He also stressed that the district should enhance its testing capability and conduct the rapid testing of all incoming labourers immediately.
The Advisor highlighted the need to continue the campaign further in order to sensitize the masses so as to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district.
Taking stock of the implementation of different schemes under the Animal and Sheep Husbandry sectors and highlighting the importance of these sectors in enhancing the economy of farming community, the Advisor instructed the concerned officers to ensure 100 per cent vaccination for foot and mouth disease besides also taking concrete steps for improvement of animal breeds.
He also instructed the officers to explore possibilities for establishment of Liquid Nitrogen Plants (LNPs) in far off areas like Zanskar. He asked the DC to ensure that all required machinery is purchased well before the onset of the winter season.
Later, the Advisor accompanied by the DC Kargil, SSP Kargil, SDM Sankoo and other concerned officers also visited the Trout Fish Farm at Damsna and took stock of its overall functioning and status of trout fish production from the fish farm.
The Advisor directed the AD Fisheries to explore ways and means to enhance trout fish production at the farm besides also taking concrete steps to introduce the rearing of other suitable fish varieties in the district. He also asked the officers concerned to prepare proposals under Atma Nirbhar Bharat to promote the Fisheries sector in the district.
