SAMBA, July 20: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader and former Minister, Manjit Singh has appealed administration to include left out villages along the International Border (IB) in Samba district in border reservation criteria of 0-6 km.
Speaking to media persons, Manjit Singh said that the Government has given reservation rights to the International Border residents after struggle of 60 years.
The JKAP senior leader said that the people have welcomed the step of the Government, but at the ground level, several deserving villages falling within the criteria of 0-6 km have been neglected intentionally or unintentionally.
He demanded that the administration should start the process to identify the villages falling in the criteria but they have not been included in border reservation even as they deserved.
Manjit Singh, former Minister, said that deputation of people from villages like Chal Salaria, Bandral, Bana Chal, Karalian comprising of prominent persons and Panchayat members have called on him and expressed their serious concerns over the issue.
“I have taken up the issue with the Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Rohit Khajuria and he has assured that he will look into the concerns of the people,” the JKAP senior leader said and added that the Government must not delay the inclusion of left out villages because people are angry.
He said that this is humanitarian issue and it needs to be looked into with seriousness without involving politics. These people, he said, have bravely faced enemies on the border standing shoulder to shoulder with soldiers and they deserve all the support from the Government.
Ignoring deserving villages will make the lives of the poor farmers more miserable, he said, adding that their rights should be fulfilled without any further delay.
