JAMMU, Apr 16: A delegation of Teli Welfare Association Jammu called on Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo and Minister for Revenue Aijaz Ahmed Khan to get addressed the demands of Teli Community, here today.
The delegation led by Reham Din Teli apprised the Ministers of their plight and said that despite the fact that the population of Teli Community in Jammu division was next to Gujjars, the successive Governments have ignored this community.
Advocate Mohd Latif Malik Teli said that not even a single grievance of Teli Community was ever redressed by any of the Governments which ruled the State.
The delegation submitted a charter of demands and stressed upon the Ministers to fulfill them on priority. Besides other demands, the delegation requested Itoo for implementation of Mandal Commission report and Indra Sawhney Judgment passed by the Apex Court in the State in toto, establishment of hostel for Teli Community analogous to Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostels, abolition of 5 year clause from the OSC certificate and Special Employment Package in Social Welfare Department for the females of Teli Community.
Prominent among others in the delegation included chairman Hakam Din Teli, Yunas Rahi Teli, Ahmad Din Teli, Ab Gani Teli, Mohd Sadiq, Hakam Din, Din Mohd and Nazir Ahmed.
