Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters Shastri Nagar here today the SDP president alleged that for personal benefits and managing huge commissions from the Pharmaceutical companies, the lives of the people are being put to great risk. She expressed serious concern over the great hue and cry being raised in Kashmir valley over spurious drugs sold to the people in open market.
She alleged that entire State has been turned into a great hub of sub-standard drugs in last few years and no body is serious about the health of the patients. She said how the patients will get recovered if the medicines being provided are spurious. The Drug Controllers office has turned meaningless and the corruption/ commissions have made the life of people miserable.
The SDP president slammed Government for maintaining criminal silence over this sensitive issue linked with the lives of lakhs of people of the State. She alleged that the working in our medical institutions was defective and system prevailing in the Government hospitals and Medical Centres had been derailed only to facilitate private medical centers. There was no check on the private shops selling banned drugs and even the sub-standard medicines. The silence on the part of Government indicates that its top ranking people could be directly or indirectly involved in yet another possible scam. She appealed the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to intervene and come to the rescue of J&K people. She also demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. On this occasion, several persons joined the party.
