SAMBA, July 21: Family members of a labourer are finding it too hard to survive after their main bread-earner became physically handicapped following a road accident which paralysed lower half of his body making him bedridden since then.
Shamsher Chand son of Shangaroo Ram resident of Naid, Nud Panchayat, Tehsil and District Samba has a family of five-his wife, three daughters and a minor son and the family falls in BPL category.
The residential house of Chand is in dilapidated condition and can fall anytime.
Parveen Sangral, president of an NGO with name ‘Muskan Foundation’ in a press conference today highlighted the issue of Chand and claimed that concerned Sarpanch, other Panchayat members and Anganwadi Workers never made efforts to provide benefits of several schemes of Government of India to the poor family of Chand.
“Panches and Sarpanch concerned even failed to provide benefits of Prime Minister Awas Yojana, disability pension etc to poor Chand,” claimed Sangral adding that there is even no proper road up to the house of Chand.
She also accused the official and officers of Social Welfare Department for not taking a cognizance of this and said that even political leaders never visited the area to take care for the poor family.
Sangral urged upon J&K Lieutenant Governor to direct the administration of Samba to visit Chand and provide him benefits of the schemes launched by the Government for especially for differentially abled persons.
