9 more die, 352 fresh cases

SRINAGAR, July 22: The J&K administration has imposed a six-day complete lockdown across Kashmir valley, except for Bandipora district, following a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases during the last three weeks, officials said today.
The decision comes into effect today evening and will be reviewed after six days, they said as the Valley recorded 352 fresh cases.
Agriculture, horticulture and construction activities will continue in accordance with disaster management guidelines. The movement of goods carriers, LPG and oil tankers will also continue unhindered. Click here to watch video
“Complete lockdown in all Red districts (excluding Bandipora) of Kmr (Kashmir) Div (Division) from today evening till 6 am on 27-7-2020,” the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s Department of Information and Public Relations said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, nine people died today due to Novel Coronavirus in Kashmir taking the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 275 while 352 people tested positive in the Valley taking positive cases in J&K to 15711.
A 58 year old man from Rajbagh area of Srinagar died today at SKIMS Soura. He was admitted to the hospital on July 16 with chest infection and tested positive for COVID-19.
A 70 year old man from Ganderbal who died yesterday at Chest Diseases hospital tested positive today. He was admitted to the hospital on July 20 with bilateral pneumonia.
A 40 year old man from Zoonimar area of Srinagar was brought to CD hospital Srinagar today and was declared brought dead. He was a COVID-19 positive patient.
A man from Palapora area of Noorbagh who was admitted on July 20 to SMHS hospital with bilateral pneumonia died today.
A man from Khaniyar admitted to SMHS hospital on July 21 with underlying ailements died today. He later tested positive for COVID-19.
A 29 year COVID-19 positive woman from Qazigund Anantnag died at SKIMS hospital today.
A 54 year old man from Sonawar area of Srinagar died at SKIM Soura today. He was admitted to the hospital on July 14.
A 10 year old COVID-19 positive boy from Dalipora Pulwama today died at GB. Pant Hospital Sonwar Srinagar today.
A 5 year old boy from Qazipora in Bandipora area was admitted in SKIMS Soura burn ward on July 20. He tested positive for COVID on July 16. He expired today.
A 56 year old woman from Pulwama died at SMHS hospital Srinagar today. She was admitted to the hospital on July 21 with gall stone and pneumonia. She had tested positive for COVID.
With nine more deaths, the death toll due to COVID-19 has reached to 275 in Jammu and Kashmir including 255 from Kashmir division and 20 from Jammu.
An official said that Srinagar reported 165, Baramulla 58, Kulgam 62, Shopian 16, Anantnag 1, Kupwara 11, Pulwama 30, Budgam 4 and Bandipora 5 cases.
These cases include two government employees, eight Defence personnel and two pregnant women.
An official said that 1383 samples were processed at Virology laboratory at Chest Diseases hospital Srinagar and 218 tested positive. They include 5 pregnant women, nine Army Personnel, three Staff members of Chief Secretary’s office, 8 healthcare professional including four doctors and four para-medics from SMHS and Dental College Srinagar.
They are 153 from Srinagar, 27 from Pulwama, 11 from Baramulla, 12 from Kupwara, four from Anantnag and two from Shopian.
An official at SKIMS said that 1817 samples were processed at the virology lab and 79 tested positive. They are 29 Returnees, 37 from Srinagar, 16 from Anantnag, 1 0 from Bandipora and six from Budgam.
