UDHAMPUR, July 23: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Udhampur Police today seized 528 kg of poppy straw from two drug peddlers, who were apprehended at Jakhani Naka on the National Highway.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in a truck, bearing registration number JK03- 8274, which was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Vijay Singh Choudhary. Police seized the recovered poppy straw and arrested the truck driver as well as his associate, who were identified as Gurjit Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab and Sourav Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab
A case FIR number 355/2020, under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
