Installation of statue was long pending demand: Sikh bodies

JAMMU, July 26: Various organizations while expressing their joy over the installation of statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk have termed it a result of the long drawn struggle of the people of Jammu.
In a Joint statement Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Coordination Committee and All India Manhas Maha Sabha complimented the Governor of Union Territory of J&K and administration for according necessary approval for installation of statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. Comrade Sukhdev Singh said also complimented Inder Singh corporator JMC for tabling the resolution and all other councillors for supporting the issue it in General House meeting of the Corporation wherein approval was accorded.
Comrade Sukhdev Singh and Thakur Harnam Singh Manhas said that the matter for naming the Kunjwani Chowk as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk and installation of his statue has already been taken since long by the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Coordination Committee, All India Manhas Maha Sabha led by Thakur Harnam Singh Manhas and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Foundation. In this regard after recommendation from different quarters, the case was pending with Secretary to Government Housing and Urban Development Department J&K.
Harnam Singh Manhas, president All India Manhas Maha Sabha, Jathedar Mohinder Singh Member DGPC, Indermohindertar Singh, Jagjit Singh, Kulvinder Singh president, Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Jee Chand Nagar Jammu, Amarjeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh Nanu senior vice president Gurudwara Baba Chanda Singh Jee, Janmeet Singh were also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, 1947 PoJK Sharnarthis Intellectual Forum president, Advocate Amrik Singh and its general secretary, Surjit Singh have also termed it a victory of the struggle of people of Jammu. They also complimented the Governor administration, JMC councilors and others for the decision.
