SAMBA, July 26: Condemning authorities for their failure to supply electricity to people, former Minister and senior leader, Manjit Singh today alleged that the bills are being sent to the consumers without the power supply.
Chairing a meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party leaders, workers and villagers of Samba district in Vijaypur, the former Minister discussed various issues confronted by the people in villages.
During the meeting, the leaders appraised him about shortage of drinking water and unscheduled power cuts in Samba district leading to the miseries of the people.”Samba district especially Vijaypur and Ramgarh is facing severe unscheduled power cuts. It further leads to hampering of water supplies in tail-end villages,” said Manjit Singh after interacting with the villagers and JKAP leaders.
The former Minister was concerned over the plight of the villagers especially when the Power Development Department has failed to supply needed electricity and only charges are being collected from the people.”The bills should not be charged from the people. When you have failed to supply electricity round the clock, how can you charge them for electricity which the poor farmers have not used,” alleged Manjit Singh.
He said that the canal water is also not going to the tail-end villages and the farmers are not able to water their fields. The water pumps do not work without electricity, the former Minister added.
He appealed to the administration to redress the issues of the people and supply electricity to consumers in Ramgarh and Vijaypur where people spend nights without power amid the hot Summers.
