JAMMU, July 27: Viklang Chhatra Trust (VCT) Akhnoor has donated 25 Intra Ocular Lenses (APPA) costing Rs. 21250 to BMO Akhnoor for the deserving cataract patients.
In a handout the Trust claimed that it has so far organized 127 free eye surgeries for the needy patients from remote hilly and far flung areas and has restored vision of more than 7,000 eye patients.
The Trust further said that in the light of Supreme Court ruling it cannot organize cataract surgery camps due to non-availability of special eye operation theatres in sub-district hospital as per the directions of Supreme Court.
This has increased the number of cataract patients.
The Trust urged upon the Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education to make provisions of cataract surgeries in the Sub-District Hospitals falling in Jammu region and also appoint eye surgeons so that vision of needy people can be restored.
