JAMMU, July 29: Senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo has urged the Government to reject all absurd opinions aimed at to derail J&K from the path of rejuvenation and reform while referring to demands made by certain quarters for restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Chrungoo who called on Lt Governor, G C Murmu here, today submitted a memorandum to him in this regard. It said that the demand is being seen by the people as motivated by selfish ends. It said in a Federal structure of the Union, it is futile to differentiate between the Statehood and the UT status.
It said in all cases, we are Indians and are governed by the Constitution of India having sovereignty of Parliament as the supreme ideal. The demand aimed at to hoodwink the public opinion.
Chrungoo also reiterated the demand for establishing a “Special Crimes Tribunal” to investigate the “crimes against humanity” committed in regard to the minorities of Jammu and Kashmir, including Hindus and Sikhs over the last 35 years in J& K. This will go a long way to bring justice to the wailing, weeping and crying victims of genocide in J&K, who were deprived of it despite the existence of the Constitution, Judicial structure and the responsible and responsive Governments at the Centre and in the Union Territory.
He further said that the time for taking a bold and right step regarding issuing an Ordinance in connection with the Kashmir Hindu Temples and Shrines Bill has come. In order to protect, preserve and promote the ten thousand year old civilizational legacy of Kashmir, an appropriate Ordinance covering the objectives of the Bill may be now promulgated and a Board accordingly constituted to manage the affairs of the new mechanism. This will go a long way to build the necessary confidence to move ahead in Kashmir regarding the restoration of faith to re-establish the Hindu community back in the valley and the Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) which has taken up this issue be taken into confidence in this regard.
The memorandum complimented the LG for launching the National Informatics Centre hosted portal for registration of “unregistered migrants” with the Relief Commissioner’s office at Jammu for purposes of Domicile Certificate and stressed that the general recruitment drive for all posts including class 1, 2 and 3 in the UT along with the PM’s Package for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits etc be held.
