NEW DELHI, July 29:
Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging the conduct of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2020) through an online mode.
A three-judge Bench headed by Justice L Nageswara Rao heard the matter and declined to entertain the petition.
The petitioner, Advocate Mitul Jain, averred that the decision to not have any specific centres to conduct CLAT, would effectively not allow students who do not have access to a computer system to sit for the admission test.
The petitioner also claimed that the sudden change in the mode of the exam is adverse to the students as the aspirants have spent over an year preparing for the test believing that it would be held offline.
The Apex Court after hearing all the arguments, decided to dismiss the plea.
Consortium of National Law Universities had on June 29 announced that CLAT, this year, would be held through online mode, keeping in view the current situation that emerged due to the pandemic novel coronavirus. (UNI)
