SAMBA, July 30: The residents of Ward No 13 Chak Manga today staged a protest demonstration against the Municipal Committee Samba for water logging in the area.
A large number of male, female and children gathered in the premises of Municipal Committee Samba to protest against lack of proper drainage system in their area which resulted in water logging during heavy rains two days ago and perishing house hold goods besides damaging the residential houses in the locality. They raised the slogans against the Municipal Committee Samba.
The protestors alleged that two days ago, during the Intervening night when the rain started, the water entered into their homes due to which their rooms were totally filled with contaminated water and also damaged household items.
They said that for the last two years the school going children are facing a lot of trouble due to water logging during rainy season.
They further said that they could not even eat food after entering the house because there was no place to cook as there is two feet deep water in all rooms.
They urged the Chairman of Municipal Committee Samba and district administration to construct the drain in the locality so that they can get rid of their problems.
Ram Dass, a resident of Chak Manga said “We have been living in the area for many years, but the rain water used to flow smoothly from here, but now we are facing a lot of problem due to the water logging,. Ever since the rainwater has started entering our houses, our children face a lot of difficulty in going to school’’.
However the Chairman Municipal Committee Samba Pawan Kohli said that he and councilor of the Ward, also went to the spot. Due to no drainage system the rain water entered into the residential houses. He assured the problem will resolved soon.
