Srinagar, Apr 17: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary and In-charge Jammu and Kashmir affairs, Dr Anil Jain today hinted at reinstatement of seven expelled BJP legislators for the larger interests of the party.
While speaking on the sidelines of party convention, Dr Jain said that human beings can make mistakes and the expelled members have also committed it. “Party has given them the punishment by expelling them two years ago,” he added.
The BJP leader said that party high command had never closed doors for them and they are seriously thinking to reinstate them. “We are accommodating people from all walks of life in our party. We have expelled our own members and they can be reinstated in the party at any time. However, the parliamentary board is the highest authority that can take a final call”, he said.
The former Bhartiya Janta Party leader, Professor Chaman Lal Gupta while ruling out his return to the BJP fold said that the party without any justification expelled party loyalists.
Gupta said that it was a pre-planned conspiracy against them and those who cross voted are still in the party while those who didn’t were expelled.
Downplaying the controversy in NDA over Narinder Modi as prime ministerial candidate the BJP leader said that every party has their own point of view and BJP has also its point of view. “It is the parliamentary board of the party that decides the prime ministerial candidate. We have enough time, we can discuss it in detail and would communicate to people at an appropriate time,” he said.
The BJP State president, Jugal Kishore Sharma while addressing the party convention said that BJP is following the footsteps of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who had established friendly relations with Pakistan.
