Theft at DD’s official residence in Kathua

KATHUA, Aug 1: A theft case has been reported in official residential quarter (Q. No. D-14) of Ranjeet Thakur, Deputy Director, (District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Kathua) at PWD Colony here. An FIR in this regard has been registered at Police Station (PS) Kathua. The theft has occurred in high profiled colony of the district where the official residence of senior Government officers including Deputy Commissioner, Principal Session Judge, SSP and various other senior district officers is situated.
As per the sources the DSEO Kathua was on paternity leave of 15 days from 16.07.2020 to 30.07.2020 and was out of station and a theft seems to have occurred between 25.07.2020 to 27.07.2020.
When contacted DSEO Kathua, intimated that he was informed by his official driver on 28.07.2020 evening when the driver visited the quarter for parking the vehicle after returning from two days tour with Assistant Director and other officials of DSEO office and found that the lock of the main door was broken and all the household items were scattered inside. Thereafter on the next day 29-07-2020 he rushed to Kathua and registered an FIR at Police Station, Kathua.
DSEO Kathua intimated that he was recently transferred to Kathua and was staying with his wife and four month daughter there and is deeply shocked about the incident as even in such a high profiled colony and in Government residential quarters there is no security of officers/officials and their families.
He further expressed that with the happening of this criminal act he is feeling totally insecure about his family as he is also engaged in duties related to COVID-19 and has to work even during late hours and the thieves with criminal mind setup having weapons with them are threat to the lives also.
Moreover DSEO Kathua also intimated that he has requested police authorities to trace out the culprits at the earliest and has also requested Deputy Commissioner Kathua and SSP Kathua for providing security to the colony for curbing such criminal act and for ensuring the safety of the officers/ officials and their families in future.
The DSEO Kathua expressed that this is not just a case of theft but attack on his faith towards law and order, threat on the security of officers/ officials and their families residing in the colony.
