JAMMU, Aug 1: A successful Cyto-Reductive surgery was performed for Advanced Ovarian Cancer patient at Bee Enn General Hospital.
The 63 year old lady patient had been fighting with cancer and was waiting for her surgery. The patient was in an advanced stage of ovarian cancer, diagnosed before COVID-19 pandemic. She was put on neoadjuvant chemotherapy for 3 cycles but surgery was postponed due to Covid.
Keeping her condition in mind, the Onco team at Bee Enn General Hospital decided to operate her. The patient underwent Cyto-Reductive Surgery. The team of Surgeons comprising Dr Samita Bhatt, Dr Gurpreet Singh and anaesthesia team headed by Dr Vikas Gupta and the expert theatre staff performed this complex procedure which lasted over 5 hours. Post surgery, the patient was in ICU care for 3 days and got satisfactorily discharged thereafter.
In spite of her associated comorbid condition and fear of Covid, the patient had an uneventful course intra operative and post operative. Bee Enn General Hospital continued to work in Covid, when elective cases considering non emergency are generally being temporarily postponed at most centres.
