JAMMU, Aug 4: The seven days Bone And Joint Week is underway in the Department of Orthopaedics, GMC, Kathua. It will culminate on August 7.
The Bone and Joint Week is held annually under the aegis of Indian Orthopaedic Association, with focus on activities amongst masses about prevention, management and treatment of various Orthopaedic disorders.
The Bone and Joint Day is celebrated on 4th of August each year with different themes globally.
Department of Orthopaedics, Govt. Medical College, Kathua in collaboration with Jammu Kashmir Ortho Association (JKOA) is celebrating the Bone & Joint Day, with week long set of Activities as per the IOA president’s theme for 2020: “PREVENTION of DEFORMITY IN DEGENERATIVE DISEASE”.
On this occasion, Dr. Rishabh Gupta, HoD Ortho and Organizing Secretary stressed upon various tips for prevention of deformity in degenerative diseases like maintaining ideal weight, regular weight bearing exercise, Healthy diet with adequate intake of calcium and Vitamin D, improving muscle strength etc.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Anjali Nadir Bhat, Principal, GMC, Kathua, who lauded the efforts of department and emphasized upon regular conduct of such activities in GMC, Kathua. The function was also attended by Dr. Chitra Vaishnavi, Medical Superintendent, who provided logistic support and Dr. Deepak Abrol, Radiation Oncologist.
Others speakers included Dr. Vivek Sharma, Assistant Professor and Joint Secretary, Dr. Bishan Singh, Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Dr. Amit Kumar (Senior Residents).
