JAMMU, Aug 7: Expressing resentment against Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society (MMJHS), locals of Mubarak Mandi and Pacci Dhaki areas today staged a protest demonstration outside MMJHS office, demanding immediate removal of iron gates.
The protesters raised slogans in favour of their demand and claimed that they have been caged in their houses after the installation and closure of iron gates at Mubarak Mandi complex.

They said that the MMJHS has installed and closed the gates to hide failures and corrupt practices being committed while carrying out renovation of the heritage complex.
The protesters also claimed that the passage through Mubarak Mandi complex was never blocked even during Maharaja’s rule.
“Authorities owe an explanation as what promoted them to install iron gates,” said Pushpa Devi, 82, a local.
Vaibhav Sharma of Pacci Dhaki lamented, “MMJHS has failed to carry out the renovation work and it has provoked the residents to divert the attention of higher authorities from real issue.”
The protestors threatened to intensify their agitation if the authorities did not open both the gates.
