POONCH, Aug 7: Kerosene oil distribution in Sub Division Mendhar and Buffliaz Block under Surankote Sub Division, has been put on hold as the depot owners mostly sell the commodity in black allegedly on exorbitant rates, sources said here today.
All Govt kersone oil depots across Mendhar and Buffliaz have gone dry and not a single drop is available for the consumers who need it for cooking as well as lighting purposes in far flung and hilly areas of Bufliaz, Hill Kaka , Pamrot, Draba, Balakote, Mendhar and Mankote and other adjoining areas of the sub division, sources added.
But to the much surprise of the people, they were told that Government has stopped the supply of the kerosene oil while the truth is that supply of the commodity is regular and upto the mark but the depot owners have been concealing the truth and indulging in minting money by selling the kerosene to truckers and bus owners who mix it with diesel, leaving common consumer high and dry, sources added.
AD Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Poonch, Ranjit Singh said that he will look into the matter but maintained that for the current month, he has yet to release the quota of kerosene oil in favour of all the dealers in these areas. He assured a probe into the matter.
