JAMMU, Aug 7: Ahead of third weekend lockdown, four persons were arrested along with illicit liquor, here today.
As per police sources, on reliable information regarding smuggling of illicit liquor ahead of weekend lockdown from, a team from Border Police Post (BPP) Baspur led by ASI Mohinder Singh laid a naka and intercepted a motorcycle bearing Registration Number JK02W-1878, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 60 quarters of illicit liquor from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Arjun Singh, son of Babu Ram of Banota Tehsil RS Pura, district Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 162/2020 under Section 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station RS Pura and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Border Police Post (BPP) Kullian led by ASI Manjeet Singh during patrolling intercepted a motorcycle bearing Registration Number JK02AX-5452.
During frisking, police team recovered 51 quarters of illicit liquor and arrested two persons riding on the motorcycle.
The arrested persons were identified as Lucky Kumar, son of Chaman Lal of Melowal and Suchet Singh, son of Darbara Singh of Tanda Tehsil RS Pura district Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 138/2020 under Section 48 (f) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib and investigation initiated.
In another similar case, a team from Gharota Police Station apprehended a man along with 15 bottles of illicit liquor.
The accused has been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Mir Chand, a resident of Sarota.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Gharota and investigation initiated.
