UDHAMPUR, Aug 8: State spokesperson, BJP and former MLA, Ramnagar, R S Pathania has demanded opening up of new Kendriya Vidhyalyas at Ramnagar, Majalta and Ghordi on priority basis.
In a letter to Union Education Minister, Pathania turned his attention towards the plight of the people living in the far-flung areas of Ramnagar where the people lack the facilities of quality education and demanded that setting up of new KVs in this area be given priority.
Pathina while referring to a press-statement of Principal Secretary, of School Education, UT of J&K said 23 KVs are proposed to be set up in J&K the object behind it has been to give a fillip to quality education in far flung pockets of UT.
The letter said whereas fact remains that Udhampur, the district headquarters, already has two KVs, Chenani which is the third largest tehsil of district Udhampur also has one KV and now another at Mantalai in Chenani tehsil has been proposed but erstwhile Tehsil of Ramnagar constituting 50% of the population of the district and 2/3rd area of the district Udhampur has been ignored. More so, no Sainik School, no Jawahar Navodhaya Vidhyalya, Army/Air Force/BSF School or even a standard private school is available in the area of Ramnagar which could cater to the quality-education of the students of the area, it added.
The letter said Ramnagar is spread across Parli Dhar, Ruarli Dhar, Dudu-Basantgarh, Kalwanta and Johnu-Panjgrain, which was a State, once, called as ‘Bandralta’. Secondly the Dhar road axis, right from Udhampur up to Dhar Mahanpur with a population exceeding one lac are in dire need of a quality educational institution, a KV school. As the gospel goes, Government is covering far flung areas, but these backward, topographically tough, poverty-stricken areas have been left untouched, evoking a sense of anger and disgust over there, it added.
The letter said keeping in line with the same sentiments and public need setting up of a KVs at Ramnagar, Majalta and Ghordi, were duly processed and properly forwarded by the State Government to the Union Education Ministry, long back. And as to why, none of these cases has been taken up remains a mystery and ignominy. As the people of Ramnagar belt have been ignored while sanctioning the new KVs, the letter sought immediate intervention of the Minister and demanded establishment of KVs at Ramnagar, Majalta and Ghordi.
