JAMMU, Aug 9: Representatives of all camps—Jagti camp, TRT Purkkoo,TRT Muthi, Buta Nagar and TRT Nagrota in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Pintooji have appealed Lieutenant Governor, JK UT, Manoj Sinha that recently merged engineering wings of different departments into R&B and Jal Vibhag should not include the Engineering Wing of Relief Department as the existing arrangement is better under single window system and migrants have an easy access to Relief Commissioner for their problems.
In a statement issued here, the camp representatives said the Relief Department being the nodal organization and custodian of the migrants for mitigating their sufferings and problems related to scarcity of water, electricity, sanitation, development works, small and necessary works should be allowed to work on as it is for better coordination.
The camp intimates said that since Relief Organization is only meant to deal the immediate issues and problems of the migrants’ and has been set up since 1990 the GOI has given clear cut orders that the migrants should not suffer and thus the Relief Department is looking after every day to day problems of the migrants and simultaneously taking up issues with the Government and higher authorities.
“We have been demanding since long that Engineering Wing of Relief Organization be made full fledged wing to monitor all the work of camps and transit camps in the Kashmir Valley’’.
Since Relief Organization is easily approachable so LG is requested to look into the matter and take necessary action in the matter.
