JAMMU, Aug 9: Taking strong note on the quantum of injuries caused due to banned Chinese thread (Gattu), National Secular Forum (NSF) president, Dr Vikas Sharma today flayed the administration for its alleged failure in enforcing blanket ban on the banned thread.
In a press conference, here today, Dr Sharma questioned the working of police as the banned thread is easily available in market despite ban on its sale.
“Despite ban, the Chinese thread is not only being sold openly in the markets but there is also a steep surge in its use for flying kites” Sharma claimed.
He also said that a slight contact with the thread while on move can cause severe injuries and it is also a big threat to the birds.
The NSF leader also called for sensitizing people against the use of this life threatening thread.
