Oxygen Tanks for major J&K hospitals

JAMMU, Aug 10: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called on President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh during his first visit to the Union capital today after taking over as the LG of Jammu and Kashmir on August 7.
Sinha is believed to have briefed Kovind, Naidu and Dr Jitendra Singh on the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and discussed the roadmap ahead.
Offices of both President as well as Vice President tweeted about the meetings of Sinha with Kovind and Naidu.
Sinha is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19 and the Lieutenant Governor will meet him after Shah resumes the office in New Delhi.
On his return to summer capital of Srinagar, Sinha is expected to review security and other arrangements for Independence Day.
Sinha had reached Srinagar on August 7 and was sworn-in as second Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir the same day. He had reviewed the pace of development in a meeting with the Administrative Secretaries soon after the swearing-in.
Meanwhile, Sinha had one-to-one meeting lasting nearly two hours with Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi to discuss various Jammu & Kashmir issues.
Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted, “Sh Manoj Sinha, currently on his maiden visit to New Delhi after taking over as Lieutenant Governor of #JammuAndKashmir, called on for an enriching exchange of views on various issues. Having worked closely together in the Modi Govt 1.0, there is much in common to share”.
During the meeting, Dr Jitendra Singh gave Manoj Sinha an update about some of the newly launched development projects of national importance in the Union Territory. He said, while most of the mega projects related to power and irrigation have been cleared during the last one year, the Ratle project, held up for six years, will also be cleared and resumed shortly.
Appreciating Sinha’s decision to visit the COVID wards in Srinagar hospitals, soon after taking over as Lieutenant Governor, Dr Jitendra Singh said, on the advice of the Union Territory Government, a provision of Oxygen Tanks has been made in all the major hospitals in Srinagar and Jammu. However, there is sufficient Oxygen supply availability both in J&K as well as Ladakh, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh conveyed to Sinha the Centre’s will and intention to resume the outreach programme by Union Ministers which had got interrupted because of the COVID pandemic. He said, 36 Union Ministers had visited Jammu & Kashmir in the first phase and the next phase will also be started as soon as the COVID pandemic situation eases out.
“This experiment of regular visits by Union Ministers had proved to be highly useful in North East and it was on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that a similar initiative has been undertaken for Jammu & Kashmir as well,” Dr Jitendra Singh said.
He also appreciated the Investors’ outreach in the recent months. He said the Union Territory Government, under the new Lieutenant Governor, will be provided all assistance and support to encourage investments in Jammu & Kashmir.
Sinha also discussed some of the future plans and public outreach programmes which he is scheduling for the coming weeks and months. He said he will be closely coordinating with the Central Government for the benefit and development of Jammu & Kashmir.
