JAMMU, Aug 11: Criticizing the Government decision of cancellation of 63 Community Development (CD) Blocks, sanctioned and operationalized in October 2014, former MLC and PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that several remote and deserving areas have been deprived of administrative units, by this decision.
In a letter to Lt Governor, Sharma said that the previous NC-Congress Government had considered the representations of people, from left out areas, after protests over first phase of sanction of administrative units and did justice to several remote and more deserving areas in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, by creating 63 BDO Blocks.
He referred to the case of Devak in Sunderbani and Dharmsal in Kalakote besides Ghambir Muglan etc. in Rajouri district, which were most deserving in view of topography and distance but the present cancellation of the said order has deprived the people of this basic facility for development units. The day in and day out, the Govt claims of massive development activities but the people are being punished of the already sanctioned units, for the failure of BJP-PDP Govt and present dispensation to make them functional. The people should not suffer for the failure of the Govt to post or assign BDOs in the new blocks. Sharma demanded immediate review of the order of cancellation and consider the deserving areas for the same at the earliest.
He questioned BJP for its failure to make these units functional and now depriving several deserving areas of administrative units, as 29 such BDO block were sanctioned for Jammu region while 26 for Kashmir besides 8 (eight) for Ladakh region.
PCC leader said that Devak area of Tehsil Sunderbani is most deserving and should be restored a BDO Block besides Niabat, which was already sanctioned, by the Congress Govt. after the people agitated for the same and he persuaded the Govt. to do justice with the remote area.
