108 kg poppy straw seized, 2 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: Continuing its drive against spread of narcotic and psychotropic substance, Udhampur Police today seized another consignment of 108 kg poppy straw and apprehended two smugglers.
During a routine naka checking police team led by Vijay Singh Choudhary SHO PS Udhampur stopped the consignment, was smuggled in a truck bearing registration number PB02BV- 7767, which was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Vijay Choudhary at Jakhani Naka, National Highway, Udhampur.
Police seized the consignment and arrested driver of the truck as well as his accomplice. They were identified as Kashmir Singh, son of Gareeb Singh of Merka, Amritsar and Resham Singh son of Lal Singh of Chande, Amritsar.
A case FIR number 435/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
As already reported, the Udhampur Police Station had yesterday seized 60 kg poppy straw from two smugglers.
