SRINAGAR, Aug 11: Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, Saurabh Bhagat, today reviewed the Mission Mode Project for registration of left out BOC workers.
Labour Commissioner, J&K, Abdul Rashid War, Director, EDI, G M Dar and other senior officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioners of various districts attended the meeting through video conferencing and briefed the Commissioner Secretary about various steps being taken up by them to achieve the target under the scheme.
Commissioner Secretary said that the aim of the project is to cover maximum genuine building and other construction workers so that they can avail benefits under different schemes of J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
He said an extensive awareness campaign has been launched district wise in which people in general and unorganized workers in particular are being made aware through print, electronic as well as social media about the benefits of registration as BOC workers and its schemes thereof.
The meeting was informed that a total number of 8,225 unorganized workers have been registered and 3,555 beneficiary cards have been renewed during this month. The district wise details were also discussed in the meeting.
Besides, in view of ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 an amount of Rs 66. 48 crore has been released for disbursement among the registered active building and other construction workers @ Rs 4000 per labour under BOCWWB in four equal installments @ 1000 per month as relief.
Commissioner Secretary directed all the Deputy Commissioners to take necessary steps to complete the scheme within 3 months as per guideline.
