JAMMU, Aug 12: Displaced Kashmiri Pandit youth in a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of Sunil Pandita has demanded rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in their mother land Kashmir Valley by fulfilling their geo-political aspirations.
The meeting said that the people who are responsible for the genocide of the community be identified and punished under law. It demanded a probe be ordered in this regard to identify the forces responsible for mass exodus of the Pandits from their ancestral land in 1989-90 and forcing them to lead an exiled life outside Kashmir.
Pandita, while addressing the meeting said the plight of displaced people is turning miserable day by day as they have lost their entire property movable and immovable due to turmoil in Valley as their houses and other structures were either razed to ground by the anti social elements or got damaged due to vagaries of weather in last 31 years. He demanded that the community be compensated for the losses suffered by it.
The meeting demanded rehabilitation of displaced youth by announcing a new employment package in UT and Central Government departments and PSUs besides providing of loans to over aged youth to start their own business establishments. He said over three decades have passed and the GoI should take concrete steps in rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley and the community be also taken into confidence in this regard.
He also demanded that the domicile certificates be also issued to migrants in different camps. The meeting was addressed by the patron of the organization P L Thusoo and others.
