JAMMU, Aug 13: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) in its Core Group meeting held under the chairmanship of its president, R K Bhat discussed various issues pertaining to minorities living in Valley particularly the Valley posted migrant employees.
R K Bhat said that the employees serving in Kashmir Valley for the national interest that too under the present circumstances when nationalist forces are being targeted by the Pakistan sponsored terrorism is a matter of concern. The safety and security is the major issue to be looked into.
He demanded independent accommodation for all 6000 package employees and 2000 non package employees in stipulated time frame. Already one decade has passed and the Government has failed miserably in accommodating the hapless employees. The quarters constructed at Vessu for employees are being given to some unknown people with the result these employees who are working in Kashmir for last ten years are still without accommodation. Some employees are living on sharing bases under present pandemic. Moreover, the land at Hawl, Pulwama, Mattan Anantnag and district Srinagar has not been identified so far for the rehabilitation of package employees.
He added that at some places land has been finalized but tenders have not been invited for construction. The employees putting up in rented accommodation are worst sufferers as they have been paying huge amount as rent. He urged the Government to hire accommodation for them on the pattern of Secretariat employees till the new quarters are constructed.
YAIKS further demanded that the Kendriya Vidyalaya be immediately established near by all camps for the wards of these employees whose future is at stake. Some 250 school going children are in Vessu Colony and they have no schooling facility hence the KV of Sangam which has been closed be immediately shifted to Vessu for these school going children.
YAIKS appealed Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to take the cognizance of the matter and issue instructions to concerned Department to hire some rented accommodation for these hapless employees.
