JAMMU, Aug 14: Parents of 2nd year MBBS students of SKIMS have appealed Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) to defer the examination in view of unfavourable condition in Kashmir due to COVID-19 and consider provisional admission of the students of Batch 2017 to pre-final (Final Year Prof-1).
In a letter addressed to Financial Commissioner, Atal Dulloo, the parents said that a new date sheet has been issued by Controller of Examination, for the examination of MBBS Batch 2017 of SKIMS which will commence from August 20.
They said that the parents and students have already talked and communicated to the Dean of SKIMS Soura, Principal of SKIMS Bemina and Director Health, SKIMS Soura regarding the unfavourable situation and occupation of the campus hostel of JVC Bemina by the paramedical staff as JVC Bemina which is a COVID Hospital.
“In this highly risky situation, it is not feasible to stay outside the campus, so we request you to consider provisional admission of MBBS 2nd year (Batch 2017) to pre-final (Final Year Prof -1) and start of the online classes, in order to prevent the delay of the session and to conduct the examinations when the situation becomes favourable.
They said, if possible, one examination center can also be established in GMC Jammu for the conduct of the examinations of Batch 2017 as per the date sheet as the conditions are not favorable in Kashmir.
