Betab quits Radio

JAMMU, Apr 19: Listeners of All India Radio will no longer listen to the News in Kashmiri read by B.N.Betab as he has sought premature retirement from his job.
Hailing originally from village Bonpora Akingam in Anantnag District, Betab started his career as a Casual News reader with Doordarshan Srinagar in 1976, while he was still a student of Amar Singh college Srinagar.
In 1978, Betab was appointed as a regular News Reader at All India Radio Delhi.
During more than 34 years of  broadcasting career, Betab also worked as News Editor and News Correspondent with Doordarshan at Srinagar, Jammu and Delhi.
Apart from Radio Broadcast, Betab also pursued literature and won many state and national awards for his poetry in   Kashmiri, Hindi and Urdu.
He translated a good amount of Kashmiri literature from Kashmiri into English and Hindi that was published in many national, international and local magazines and periodicals.
Mr Betab has joined Central Monitoring Service and has been posted as OSD at Jammu.
