J&K becomes experiment lab for BJP Govt: NDP

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Aug 14: Nationalist Democratic Party (NDP) has alleged that Jammu and Kashmir has virtually been converted into experiment laboratory by the BJP Government at the Centre, inviting more and more miseries to its people, post abrogation of Article 370 era.
In a meeting of the executive committee of the party held here today under the chairmanship of AK Attri (Adv), the speakers expressed serious concern over several surprising, anti-youth and anti-people decisions of the BJP Government during past few years in J&K. They said the largest erstwhile Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir has been reduced to mere a Union Territory, which has never been a demand of Jammu people. They had been struggling only for separate statehood.
Attri pointed out that J&K witnessed some unpleasant moves with J&K going from Chief Minister to Governor and then Lt Governor’s control. From bureaucrats turned advisors, the Centre is now reportedly all set to change the system in J&K UT under Council of Political Advisors. The PRC was abolished and Domicile Certificate brought in, offering local jobs to the youth from outside J&K, thus causing damage to the interests of the local educated unemployed youth, Attri added.
He said tall claims of the BJP leadership of massive investment in Industrial and Tourism sector, opening of flood gates of jobs for the local youth, large scale development activities after abrogation of Article 370, have turned out to be farce. There is no sharp hike in the price of lands in the region and no big industrial houses from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi or any other state could be attracted to invest in J&K despite several road shows by the J&K Govt in some states. Militancy could not be controlled and ceasefire violations along the LoC still continued. Restoration of peace is also not visible in J&K, he regretted.
The members said BJP should stop showing green pastures to the Jammu people as the party stood exposed. The local party leaders have stopped raising voice against injustice with Jammu people. On Toll Plazas issues also, they all kept mum. The people of Jammu are burning with anger against them and may punish them in next elections.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Rakesh Sharma, Vijay Anand, JG Sharma, Raj Kumar Khajuria, SC Sharma, Surinder Pal and Ravi Singh.
