RAJOURI/ POONCH, Apr 19: In two separate incidents, the two leopards injured four men including two Forest employees and killed two goats in Rajouri and Mendhar area today.
Reports said the villagers, police and Forest officials trapped a leopard in Upper Lah area of Thannamandi in district Rajouri today. The villagers kept chasing the wild beast and it was then trapped in the thick bushes. The villagers with lathis surrounded the area. Later, the Forest/ Wild Life team and SDPO and SHO Thannamandi also reached there. During the process, the leopard attacked two villagers and two employees while trying to capture the animal.
The leopard then escaped and hid in another area. The people, police and Forest team were chasing but it managed to flee from their clutches.
The injured are identified as Sagir Alam, Mohd Sabir of Lah, Mohd Sadiq Forest Guard and DFO’s driver Mohd Shakoor. They were later hospitalized.
Meanwhile, a leopard killed two goats of one Abdul Ghani, son of Chandia of Balnoi area in Sagra (Mendhar). The animals has created terror in the area.
