JAMMU, Aug 14: During the Independence Day celebrations, Block Development Council chairpersons and presidents of Municipal bodies shall preside over and take salute in separate functions held at the concerned Sub-Divisional and Municipal headquarters.
An order in this regard was issued late this evening by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, in partial modification of the earlier instructions conveyed on the subject.
“Presidents of Municipal Councils/Municipalities shall preside over the function and take salute in separate functions to be held at Municipal Council/ Municipal Headquarters while BDC Chairpersons shall preside over and take salute at the concerned Sub-Divisional Headquarters,” read the order, adding that appropriate instructions in this regard be conveyed immediately to all concerned for compliance.
Pertinent to mention that earlier, concerned SDMs and Tehsildar were designated to preside over the Independence Day functions and take salute, which was not as per the protocol of elected representatives of the local bodies.
