JAMMU, Apr 19: Bharat Rattan, Baba Saheb Dr BR Ambedkar Jyanti and Samman Samaroh was celebrated by All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Jammu under the aegis of Shri Shri 108 Swami Gurdeep Giri Ji Maharaj here today in the premises of Gurudwara Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj, Krishna Nagar.
Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla and MLC and Provincial president, NC, Devender Singh Rana also graced the occasion and paid tributes to Baba Saheb.
Addressing the gathering, Raman Bhalla said that Dr BR Ambedkar was a great visionary, champion of downtrodden and father of Indian Constitution. He always fought for social and economic equality and universal brotherhood, he said and advised the people to follow the path shown by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj and Baba Sahib.
Devender Singh Rana in his address said that it is all due to Baba Saheb that political and service class reservation is provided to the downtrodden communities like SC, ST and OBCs. He said that we are ever ready to provide justice to the under-privileged and give all facilities to SC, ST and OBCs.
Both the personalities also paid obeisance to Shri Shri 108 Swami Gurdeep Giri Ji Maharaj for uniting the communities and spreading the message of universal brotherhood.
Later Swami Gurdeep Giri Ji Maharaj delivered religious sermons to the people. He also threw light on the contribution of Dr BR Ambedkar. He told that the only way to success is to follow teachings of great saints like Shri Guru Ravi Dass, Guru Kabir Ji, Nabha Dass and Guru Gyagi Ji.
Those honoured on the occasion were, all the presidents of branch Sabhas of All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, great singers, artists, youths of Ravi Sena, Kabir Colony, Talab Tillo, Youth wing of the Sabha, Ladies Wing, Prabhat Pheri Group and many others for their contribution during Shoba Yatra taken out on Feb 23, 2013.
Sarpanchs, Naib Sarpanchs and Panchs of the Dalit communities, some religious and social organizations and educational institutions like Kamal Muni High School, Gangyal, Dr Ambedkar Convent School, Bantalab and Rajpura, Shri Ravi Dass Convent School, Jaswan, Shri Sai Public School, Bahu Fort were also honoured.
