3-day conference on German language begins at KU

SRINAGAR, Apr 19: To promote the learning and teaching of German language amongst the youth, Kashmir University Institute of Foreign Language in collaboration with Indo -German Teachers Association (INDAF) is organizing  a three day conference on the German Language titled ‘German works ….for You’ which began here today at KU.
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to India, Michael Steiner who was chief guest on the occasion called for more proliferation of the German language so as to build the bonds between Germany and this part of Asia.  “German language is the key to the global world, familiarising people of the Valley with German language will make them competent to work in the west, especially in Germany,” he said.
The Ambassador said that Germany offers huge opportunities to the youth of India and there is a great demand of skilled workforce in Germany.
On the occasion, Markus Biechele, Regional Language Director Goethe-Institute Max Mullar Bhavan, one of the partners of INDAF in the conference, stressed upon the need for further promotion of the German language in Valley and other parts of the sub-continent.
President INDAF, Dr Pramod Talgeri said that more collaboration is needed between INDAF and the varsity.
While welcoming the dignitaries Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad called for more integration between INDAF and the varsity, which will help the students to make their careers outside the country.
Earlier speaking on the occasion Director Institute of Foreign Languages Prof Bashir Ahmad said that 50 teachers from Delhi, UP, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Punjab shall participate in the 3-day conference.
