Court extends Police remand of ‘Dutta Financers’ proprietor

JAMMU, Aug 17: In the high profile case of Rs 28 crores fraud and murder, the Ist Additional Sessions Court Jammu today extended the Police remand of the accused by eight more days for further investigation.
The Crime Branch had requested for extending the Police remand keeping in view new facts coming to fore in the investigation of case FIR No. 302/2012 U/S 406, 409, 420, 468, 471, 120-B/RPC P/S Gandhi Nagar(Now Crime Branch Jammu) during five days Police remand of accused S Gurdeep Singh son of Harnam Singh, resident of H No 83/1, Channi Himmat, Jammu.
The accused is a notorious fraudster, a murderer and is prime accused in the instant case for duping hundreds of depositors and gullible people across the UT of J&K of their hard earned savings by luring them in the garb of a Finance Company which was opened under the name and style “Dutta Financers” Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
The accused was arrested by Crime Branch Jammu from Mohali Chandigarh on 12-08-2020 after absconding for more than 8 years to evade arrest. He was also involved in two more cases registered with Police Station Batote in case FIR No.72/1985 U/S 302, 134/RPC for murder of a Policeman and Police Station Channi in case FIR No. 164/2010 U/S 307, 34/RPC 3/25 Arms Act in which a conspiracy was hatched by the accused to assassinate a prominent citizen of Jammu. In both the cases, he had been evading arrest.
