Jammu, Aug 17: In an endeavor to facilitate the growers for a better return of their produce and to decongest the notified yards and the main market yard, Direct Farmers Market Gandhi Nagar was inaugurated by Tajinder Singh, Member State Agriculture Marketing Board at Ward No. 21 Near Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Gandhi Nagar Jammu in presence of Chief Agriculture Officer Farooq Ahmed Bhatt and Priya Parihar Area Marketing Officer Jammu today under the guidance of Imam Din, Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing J&K.
Also present on the occasion were Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Narinder Paul Singh, S.R. Sangra AGMO Bishnah, AEO Surinder Gupta and other Officials from Agriculture and Horticulture (P&M) Department.
The residents of Gandhi Nagar have appreciated the efforts of the department of the Horticulture Planning & Marketing for providing the farm fresh vegetables and fruits at their door steps.
This initiative was taken on the instructions of Principal Secretary Naveen K Choudhary as per the Govt. orders issued on Direct Marketing and subsequently authorization of the Department of Horticulture (P&M) as Nodal agency under the ordinance issued by the Centre i.e. Farmers Trade and Commerce (Promotion & Facilitation) Ordinance 2020. These steps will not only boost the economy of the UT but also play a pivotal role in enhancing and doubling the income of farmers.
