REASI, Aug 18: Expressing resentment over the continuous restrictions in some parts of Reasi town for the last about one month, senior Congress leader and former minister Jugal Kishore Sharma has sought a thorough review of COVID related SOPs and norms as local people are experiencing lot of troubles due to the curbs imposed.
In a press statement issued here today, Congress leader Jugal Kishore Sharma said that as many as three wards of Reasi town including Ward Numbers 5, 7 and 8 were declared as Red Zones about a month ago but even though the situation has improved substantially these areas are still classified under the same category.
Sharma said that due to the continuous restrictions in these locations, the locals are not allowed to have free movement due to which they are unable to procure essential commodities including ration and other groceries.
Moreover, there are several people, who earn their livelihood on daily basis, reside in these areas but since their movement is restricted they are finding it difficult to make both ends meet, he added.
He said that if the administration wants to persist with the restrictions then it must also ensure supply of essential commodities to the people living under Red Zone areas.
Congress leader also expressed resentment over different Covid related yardsticks being followed by the UT administration in Kashmir and Jammu regions viz a viz in one district to another in Jammu province, particularly with regard to quarantine measures of Covid cases.
Sharma said it is bit surprising as well as confusing that in Kashmir region, the asymptomatic cases are allowed to be home quarantined but in Jammu region, the administration is putting people in quarantine Centres, which generally are being managed poorly and lack proper facilities.
He demanded from the administration to look into the matter and issue directions to adopt uniformity in COVID norms in the entire Union Territory of J&K.
