346 fresh infections in Valley, tally crosses 29,000

SRINAGAR, Aug 18: Six more COVID-19 positive patients died in Kashmir today, taking the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 565 while Valley reported 346 fresh Coronavirus infections taking the number of positive cases in J&K past 29, 000.
Those who died of COVID-19 include a 70-year-old man from Handwara who died at SKIMS Soura, six days after he was admitted to the hospital.
A 55-year-old woman from Ompora Budgam who was admitted to SMHS hospital here on August 16 died today.
A 65-year-old man from Tregam in district Kupwara died at the SMHS hospital today.
A 65-year-old man from Handwara area of Kupwara died at CD hospital Dalgate Srinagar today. He was declared dead at 4.30 a.m.
Two more patients succumbed at SKIMS Bemina, due to COVID-19. They include a 55-year-old woman from Gulab Bagh Srinagar and she died nine days after her admission.
The second death reported at the hospital includes a 50-year-old woman from Makhama Magam in district Budgam who died three days after her admission. Both the patients were suffering from multiple ailments.
With these deaths, the death toll has gone up to 565 in Jammu and Kashmir so far-524 from the Valley and 41 from Jammu division. Srinagar district with 181 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 88, Budgam 46, Anantnag 39, Kulgam 31, Pulwama 40, Kupwara 40, Shopian 25, Bandipora 22 and Ganderbal 14.
Kashmir today reported 346 fresh Coronavirus infections taking the number of positive cases in J&K to 29,326 including 22,780 from Kashmir and 6,546 from Jammu.
An official said that 318 samples were processed at SKIMS Medical College Virology laboratory and 112 tested positive.
Those who tested positive today include 66 from Srinagar, 37 from Baramulla, 27 from Pulwama, 6 from Budgam, 42 from Anantnag, 16 from Kulgam, 3 from Shopian, 66 from Kupwara, 59 from Bandipora and 24 from Ganderbal.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6,879 including 5,315 from Kashmir division and 1,564 from Jammu province. With 590 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 21,886 which is 74.63 percent of the total cases.
Srinagar district alone has 7,026 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 6,546.
There are 7,026 positive cases including 177 deaths and 5,453 recoveries from Srinagar, 2,475 including 88 deaths and 1,745 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,122 including 1,651 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Pulwama,1,834 including 1,300 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Budgam, 1,857 including 43 deaths and 1,456 recoveries are from Anantnag, 1,728 including 1,487 recoveries and 31 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,579 cases including 1,458 recoveried and 25 deaths are from Shopian, 1,637 including 1,134 recoveries and 36 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,535 including 751 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Bandipora and 987 including 510 recoveries and 14 deaths are from Ganderbal.
