UDHAMPUR, Aug 19: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances, Police Party of Police Station Udhampur today apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 70 kg of poppy straw from their possession.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in Maxi Cab, bearing registration number PB11AX- 4970, which was intercepted at Jakhani Naka Point, NHW, Udhampur, by a Police party led by SHO Udhampur, Vijay Choudhary. Driver of the vehicle, identified as Beant Singh son of Kulwant Singh of Ludhiana and his associate Sukhvinder Singh son of Jagdev Singh of Ludhiana were arrested on the spot.
The Police seized the poppy straw as well as the vehicle and registered a case FIR NO. 449/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act at PS Udhampur.
