NEW DELHI, Apr 20: Late actor and director Jaspal Bhatti, late superstar Rajesh Khanna, industrialist Adi Godrej, Olympic medallist Mary Kom and Lyricist Nida Fazli were among those who were conferred the Padma awards by President Pranab Mukherjee here today.
Two Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 38 Padma Shri awards were conferred by the President at a Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, attended by Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Minister for Home Affairs Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Professor Roddam Narasimha and Mr Sayed Haider Raza were presented the Padma Vibhushan, while 13 personalities were given the Padma Bhushan, two of them posthumously (Jaspal Bhatti and Rajesh Khanna).
A total of 38 personalities, including lyricist Nida Fazli, artist Sharad Pandurang Kale and fashion designer Ritu kumar were given the Padma Shri awards. (UNI)
