SHOPIAN, Aug 22: Principal Secretary, Home, Shaleen Kabra, today visited Shopian and held a review meeting with officers and officials of various departments to assess the status of ongoing development works besides taking stock of implementation of other schemes in the district.
Principal Secretary, who is also the Administrative Secretary in charge of Shopian district, took a detailed review of functioning of RDD, Horticulture, Health, Education, Social Welfare, Labour Department, Animal & Sheep Husbandry Departments. He asked the district and frontline officers of various departments to work in tandem to identify and quantify the sector specific needs and potential of the district based on natural and human resources.
He emphasized the officers to work towards empowering people through credit dissemination in priority sectors in capacity areas which will enable promotion of entrepreneurship. He observed various departmental short comings and directed officers to rectify constraints in scheme implementation and work execution and service delivery.
Principal Secretary took first hand appraisal of the economic hardships being faced by the public due to COVID lockdown period. He passed directions for giving importance to rural economy and facilitating employment of labour in rural areas under flagship employment guarantee scheme MGNREGA to provide much needed man-days to rural populace amid covid-19 pandemic to mitigate their financial crisis.
District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin, briefed through a Power Point Presentation about the various schemes being implemented by different departments.
Among others Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Joint Director Planning, OSD COVID-19 and District Officers of various Departments were present.
