Srinagar, Aug 27: J&M Medical Employees’ Federation (JKMEF) today demanded that disengagement orders issued against the workers engaged under the academic arrangement in the Health and Medical Education Department must be revoked.
The spokesperson of the Federation said that the workers engaged in the Health & Medical Education Department in the year 2009, 2013 and 2018 under various SROs were working in the department against meagre remuneration and that disengaging them is sheer injustice to them.
Spokesperson of the Federation while quoting Chairman Bashir Ahmad said that these workers have worked at par with the regular workers during all turbulent times including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“They have been working like anything and the fact has been acknowledged by the Government as well as by the higher officials of the H&ME,” he said.
He also criticized the administration for what is called as anti-workers policy and its callousness in addressing the issues that these employees are facing. “It is because of this, the lives of the employees have become difficult and tough and they have become victims of mental issues,” he said.
He said that the Court has given categorical orders to the Department, directing it that all the employees engaged under the academic arrangement must be regularized and their salaries must be paid as per 7th Pay Commission.
“However, the orders were thrown into the dustbin and the department disengaged the workers engaged under SRO 384 and 409 in the year 2013,” he said.
JKMEF said that it condemns that action of the administration and that it demands that the Government must revoke the disengagement orders with immediate effect.
