SAMBA, Aug 28: Due to continuous rains for the last few days, the Kacha houses of Chuni Lal and Pukhu Ram have been damaged in the Palth village of Mananu Panchayat of Samba district and the household goods and ration lying in the two houses has also been destroyed completely .
Chuni Lal who has been ailing for the last several years and has no means of livelihood has lost all hope after his house has also collapsed in the heavy rains. He, his wife and three daughters stayed awake all night in the rain so that the house does not fall on them and they will be buried in the debris.
Chuni Lal said that four years ago he was told that he would be given money to build a pucca room under the housing scheme, but till date a not a single penny was not paid to him. Chuni Lal’s family has demanded that they should at least be provided a tarpaulin to cover their heads during this rainy season.
The Pukhu Ram, who house was also damaged, said that due to the lockdown, his financial situation has deteriorated and he does not even have enough money to build a pucca house. He said that now it is expected from the Government that he will get the assistance under the housing scheme so that he can construct a pucca room.
On receiving the information of the incident, Sunil Chaudhary, Sarpanch of Mananu Panchayat, reached the spot. He appealed to the Revenue Department and the district administration to provide relief and other help to the effected people.
