Faith healer held on rape charges

Srinagar, Aug 30: A so-called faith healer from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was today arrested for allegedly raping two girls.
The alleged molester has been identified as Ashraf Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmed Mir, a resident of Akingam village of Anantnag district.
It has been learnt that a man from Tailwan Achabal village lodged a complaint at a local police station, levelling charges of raping his two daughters against Ashraf Mir who used to visit him at his residence.
The man has alleged that the self-styled faith healer has established sexual contact with his daughters, force-fully.
He has also stated that Ashraf exploited his daughters who used to visit him frequently.
Meanwhile, after receiving the complaint, Police managed to arrest the self-styled faith-healer from his residence.
Further, a formal FIR vide number 68/2020 under section 376 has been registered at Police Station Achabal and the investigation has been initiated.
