DADAA demands satellite Duggar Channel

JAMMU, Aug 30: A delegation of Doordrshan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADAA) Jammu met KK Sharma, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of J&K at Udyog Bhawan Conference Hall Rail here today and apprised him of their long pending demands including satellite Duggar Channel.
The delegation comprising J S Babli (president), Madan Rangila (vice president) and Janak Khajuria (secretary cum spokesperson of DADAA) submitted a memorandum of demands to the Advisor.
Babli said that DADAA is demanding satellite Duggar Channel with sole aim to promote, protect and develop the rich culture, heritage and languages spoken in the Duggar land and also generate the employment.
Further, Janak Khajuria said that more than one crore population stretched between Mirpur, Bhimber, Bag, Siyalkot and Shakargarh in Pakistan and Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Hoshiarpur in Punjab and some portion of Himachal Pardesh speak Dogri.
He also apprised the Advisor that Jammu is a suitable place being near to the International Boarder and Line of Control to propagate and promote the prospective polices of Government of India with regard to Kashmir to convince the masses living across the border effectively and counter the false propaganda against the state as well as our country by Pakistan.
Khajuria informed the Advisor that about 10,000 artists, producers, technician, musician and spot boys of Union Territory are totally dependent on Doordarshan and they are facing starvation as till date the productions of drama as well as of serials are totally stopped as at present DDK Jammu is only just Kendra but the budget is not provided.
“PGF Rajouri is also dependent on DDK Jammu as no spate budget in grant is provided for that. The Kashmiri migrant artists are also fed by DDK Jammu’s grant,” he said and requested the Advisor to allot the budget in grant for DDK Jammu and immediately restore in house programs in the categories of drama/serials.
The Advisor listened to the delegation patiently and assured to take the matter with concerned authorities.
