* 290 fresh cases in Valley

SRINAGAR Aug 31: Five COVID-19 patients died in Kashmir today while the Valley reported 290 fresh cases of Coronavirus taking the total number of positive cases in J&K to 37,698.
Those who died today include a 54-year-old man from Dardharal Kupwara, a 70-year-old man from Sunder Bala Chattabal, a 65-year-old woman from Batpora Budgam, a 60-year-old man from Bemina and a 70-year-old man from Mughal Pora Kupwara.
A patient, 60-year old man from Bemina who was admitted on 22nd August to SMHS hospital in Srinagar died today.
A patient, 70-year old man from Sunder Bala in Chattabal area of Srinagar district who was admitted with hypertension, COPD, bilateral Pneumonia on 27th August to SMHS hospital in Sriangar died today.
A patient, 54 year old man from Dardharal in district Kupwara who was admitted on 30th August to SMHS hospital in Srinagar died today.
A patient, 60-year old woman from Batpora in district Budgam who was admitted on 29th August to SMHS hospital died today.
A patient, 70 year old man from Mughal pora Kupwara who was admitted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar on 27th August with pneumonia died at SMHS today.
With these more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 712 including 644 from Kashmir division and 68 from Jammu province.
Kashmir reported 290 fresh cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of positive cases in J&K to 37,698.
The cases that were reported today include 90 Srinagar, 16 Baramulla, 52 Pulwama, 25 Budgam, 18 Anantnag, 38 Bandipora, 19 Kupwara, 7 Kulgam, 7 Shopian and 18 from Ganderbal.
As per officials figures, 9,273 positive cases including 221 deaths and 7,480 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,826 including 100 deaths and 2,206 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,643 including 2,120 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,507 including 1,779 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Budgam, 2,332 including 50 deaths and 1,765 recoveries are from Anantnag, 2,180 including 1,447 recoveries and 25 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,094 cases including 1,468 and 48 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,925 including 1,699 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,704 including 1,557 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Bandipora and 1,433 including 971 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ganderbal.
Kashmir has 28,917 positive cases including 22,492 recoveries.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 7,980 including 5,788 from Kashmir division.
Srinagar district alone has 9,273 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 8,781.
With 505 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 29,015 which is 76.96 percent of the total cases.
