JPPF’s concern over chaos in Valley ahead of Yatra

JAMMU, Apr 21:  Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF), which is an amalgam of more than 50 social, commercial and other organizations, has expressed concern over the alarming situation and chaos engineered by a group of people in the Valley with the ulterior motives having hidden agenda of conspiracy to disturb the calm and quiet atmosphere.
Addressing a press conference and meeting of the Forum here today, District and Sessions Judge (Retd), Paviter Singh, said that the matter of spurious drug purchase case, which is already under investigation by the Government is being politicized by a group of people to disturb peaceful atmosphere in the State ahead of Shri Amarnath Yatra whereas there was nothing observed in the preliminary investigations.
The members were apprehensive of causing disturbance in the State in view of approaching Shri Amarnathji Shrine Yatra by the devotees not only from the country but abroad also.
JPPF warned the State Government to be vigilant and to nip the evil in the bud so that situation like 2008 agitation may not throng the State, which had caused setback to Tourism Industry, the losses of which could not be revived till date.
The Forum opined that a transparent inquiry for which the investigation is already in progress should be conducted and defaulters be punished as nobody is above law.
