54 in Sectt, 36 Wave Mall, 20 JMC, 14 at Kathua court complex +ve

JAMMU, Sept 4: Jammu region today reported three new Corona deaths and 505 fresh cases, 322 of them in Jammu district alone including three more BJP leaders, two KAS officers, SHO Akhnoor among 11 police personnel from the area, 15 members of a marriage party, four more employees in the office of Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, 14 from the district court complex in Kathua, a Medical Officer and several Health Department officials surpassing the region’s Corona tally beyond 10,000.
In the Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) in various Government offices, shopping Malls and public places, 315 persons today tested positive for COVID-19 including 251 in urban areas and 64 in rural areas.
They include 54 in Civil Secretariat and Mini Secretariat, Wave Mall (36), Jammu Municipal Corporation (20), DC Office Jammu (2), Bakshi Nagar (5), Hari Mandir Rehari (12), Bikram Chowk (19), Exchange Road (19), Channi Himmat (8), Green Belt PDD office (4), Indira Theatre (4), JDA Rail Head (2), Rail Complex Vikas Bhawan (7), Shahidhi Chowk (1), Veer Marg Residency Road (1), Resham Ghar (34), New Plot Lakshmi Nagar (14), Rajpura Park (2), NABARD (2), Krishna Palace & Tawi Palace (5), Akhnoor (21), Bishnah (11), Chowki Chowra (2), Dansal (7), Kot Bhalwal (9), Pallanwalla (3), RS Pura (5) and Sohanjana (6).
In aggressive drive to detect COVID patients, the Health teams in district Udhampur today conducted 1044 tests in Government offices, markets and residential areas of the town in which 44 persons were found infected for pathogen, District Magistrate Dr Piyush Singla said.
The positives were shopkeepers, locals and officials, Dr Singla said.
The drive will continue for at least next 10 days, he added.
A 70-year-old man from Gujjar Nagar in Jammu, who was suffering from lung cancer and was COVID positive, was admitted in the GMC Jammu yesterday. He was incubated and put on ventilator but he breathed his last this morning, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
An accident victim from Akhnoor who died in the GMC Jammu today tested positive for Coronavirus posthumously.
An 80-year-old man from Bafliaz in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district was shifted to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Surankote last evening due to co-morbidities. He was tested positive for COVID in RAT and was put on oxygen. Later, he was referred to the GMC Jammu but he died enroute and was brought back.
BJP IT Cell Incharge Jaideep Rajwal, district president and general secretary in Kishtwar Pradeep Parihar and Lalit Sharma respectively, today tested positive for the virus. A number of BJP leaders including Ravinder Raina, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Ashok Koul, Vibodh Gupta, Narinder Singh and Prabhat Singh have already tested positive.
A KAS office posted in Handloom Department in Jammu also tested positive for COVID-19.
A total of 11 police personnel today tested positive in Sub Division Akhnoor including SHO Akhnoor Inspector Naresh Sharma, Munshi and four cops at Akhnoor police station, three police personnel at Pallanwalla Police Post and two at Jourian. The police station and Police Posts have been closed for public while Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Akhnoor Ajay Sharma has gone into quarantine.
Four more staffers in Administration Section of the Principal GMC Jammu office today tested Corona positive taking total number of positives in the Section during last two days to six.
Among a total of 40 positives in Kathua district, 14 were detected in the district court complex, Deputy Commissioner Kathua OP Bhagat said. The positives include two Prosecution Officers, court employees, three police personnel and locals who had come to visit the court complex.
A KAS officer posted as Deputy Registrar Cooperatives in the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kathua also tested positive today.
A total of 31 persons tested positive for the virus in RAT, Bhagat said, adding that other positives include travelers and contacts of positive persons.
Ramban district today reported 18 new Coronavirus cases including 15 persons from village Nera, who had attended a wedding party in which a Naib Tehsildar and his son were also present. The Naib Tehsildar has already tested positive for the virus.
A Medical Officer posted at Khari Ukhral in Banihal tehsil hailing from Kashmir and two drivers from Gool also tested COVID positive in Ramban district, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Mohammad Fareed Bhat said.
Apart from two BJP leaders, 26 other persons have tested positive for pathogen in Kishtwar district. Among them were three Health Department employees posted in District Hospital and CMO office including an ambulance driver and nearly a dozen persons including relatives who had come in contact with a cancer patient.
A Lab Technician who was part of the Health Department team which had gone for testing of Jaypee Company employees in Dangdooru also tested positive today in Kishtwar.
Eighteen fresh Corona cases were today reported from Rajouri district including four CRPF personnel and two residents of Uttar Pradesh working in the district who had travel history of New Delhi, SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli said.
He added that four persons from Ward No. 8 and one from Ward No. 5 also tested positive in Rajouri besides two from Sunderbani.
Thirteen persons tested positive for the virus in Samba district, 11 Poonch, seven Doda and four in Reasi district.
With today’s positives, Jammu region has Corona tally of 10411 but, of them, only 3369 are active cases as 6961 have been treated while there have been 82 casualties.
A total of 131 persons were today discharged from various COVID hospitals of Jammu region including 38 in Jammu district, 36 Udhampur, 21 Kathua, 12 Poonch, eight Samba, five Doda, four Rajouri, three each Ramban and Reasi and one in Kishtwar district.
Meanwhile, 95 new Corona cases were today reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh including 90 in Leh district and five in Kargil.
With this, Ladakh’s Corona tally has reached 2935 and active cases stood at 815. There have been 2085 recoveries and 35 Corona casualties.
